Educational Projects
The Lamp believes education is vital to ensuring a brighter future.
As a community-based organization, the Lamp values strong collaboration with the schools in the area. School owners and principals are highly respected community leaders. Education is hugely valued by all for its potential to provide the younger generation with a better life. Schools provide a tremendous opportunity for the Lamp to engage with families in their day-to- day life, to preach the value of a strong health education curriculum, and to directly impact the economic power of the residents.
The Lamp education program includes sponsorship of individual children, and assistance to the schools themselves.
By way of background, Haiti does not have publically funded education. Thus, education in Haiti is neither free nor mandatory. Many families lack the funds to send their child to school at all, or consistently.
